RAPID CITY - Tina L. Mendel, 35, of Rapid City passed away Friday, February 2, 2007, at her home.
Tina was born February 17, 1971, in Rapid City, SD, where she has lived most of her 35 years. Tina graduated from Stevens High School in 1990 and went on to Dental Hygientist School in Sheridan, WY. She returned to Rapid City after graduating to embark on her career and to be near her family and friends. She joined her husband, Jay Mendel, in marriage on April 19, 2003. She was diagnosed with appendix cancer Christmas 2005, and lost her battle just a year later. The loss of Tina has left a hole in the hearts and her family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Black Merchen-Bahr and Noah Mendel of Rapid City, husband Jay Mendel of Rapid City, parents David & Connie Merchen of Rapid City, brothers Gordon (Michelle) Merchen of Rapid City and Chris (Brenda) Sherman of Phoenix, AZ, sister Kim (Josh) Schneider of Rapid City, parents in-law Steve & Sandi Mendel of Rapid City, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, Stephana (Ron) Louge, Box Elder, Mark Mendel, Rapid City, Kody (Jessica) Mendel, Rapid City, Britni Mendel (Jeremiah Simunek), Hot Springs, several nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
She is preceded in death by grandparents Louis (Dude) & Hazel Merchen of Rapid City and Alex & Mildred Miller of Lusk, WY.
A special thank you for all who touched Tina's life, and the life of our families during her 35 years, but especially to those who have been such a loving support this past year, and to those who will carry her memory forward.
Services are set for 10 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Rimrock Evangelical Free Church (by Johnson Siding) west of Rapid City on W. Hwy 44. A luncheon will follow at the Rimrock Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has beenestablished at Great Western Bank in Tina's memory.
